Vampy Pt. 3
Hey, Boo!!
Welcome back. I’ve taken time off the flash fiction because I’ve been devoting time to finishing up my next books; LOVE ME AGAIN and THE LAWYER & THE HITMAN. But, this story is just itching to come out. So here is part 3. I think this is going to be a full length story that will only be available on this site. I appreciate it if you share. Sharing helps! Also, read the blog posts and past flash fiction.
Thank you!
Love Always,
J.L.
We drove in silence. Daniel wouldn’t even let put on the radio. Every time I opened my mouth to speak it was met with a stern no. It wasn’t actually stern, it was more of a quaking in his sensible loafers kind of no but I had to respect it.
It’s not everyday a vampire sat in his passenger side. “Danny boy…” I whined.
“No.”
“I’m bored.” I crossed my arms and pretended to sulk.
He glanced at me for a brief second, concentrating on the road a head. He didn’t respond to me, not even a grunt at my existence. I mean, the quick glance was nice…maybe a little too nice but…that was it. Maybe I’m a masochist, maybe I just love the pain and brutality of a man’s indifference. Or maybe it’s because I drank from him and I’ve heard from the two weeks I’ve been dead that it’s normal. Horniness happens, especially during the early days of death.
“Daniel.” I probed again.
His heavy sigh was comical but I held it in. “I’m hungry,” I sang out and he almost veered off the road. I reached out to straighten the car. “Calm down, I was joking. What you gave is enough for a couple days.”
Daniel licked his lips nervously. “I need help with my daughters.”
“I told you before, I won’t feast on them…” I waited a beat. “I’ll ask you first.” Again the car veered off the road. “Daniel! I’m kidding, relax. I’m just trying to loosen you up. You’re so wound up.”
“Until two days ago, I didn’t think vampires existed.”
“So, why’d you answer my ad?”
“Because I thought you wanted sex.”
I couldn’t hold my laughter back any longer. “You was open to prostituting yourself?”
He shrugged. “I needed the money.”
I should ask him why. But, I shouldn’t insert myself deeper into this man’s life. I kept glancing over, the street lights casting shadows over his already gloomy, paranoid face. I fought the my instinct for two seconds…that’s all the energy I could muster. “Why?” I suffered.
“Why? what?” I guess the silence stretched a little too much.
“Why do you need the money? You have an office with a good view, it looks like you make good money.”
He glanced over and began to shift in his seat, like he had ants in his pants. “I made good money. When it was a two income household.”
I forgot he mentioned a wife. “Your wife left? Without her kids?” When I was alive, I couldn’t imagine my mom leaving me behind. Cancer got her only a couple years ago. It would’ve killed her to see me die.
“Sometimes…people aren’t meant to be parents.”
“She couldn’t figure that out after the first one?” I snapped.
He shrugged. “I think she did it for me…to make me happy. It wasn’t enough for her to stay.” The heaviness in the small car was too much. I don’t know how we got so personal so fast but I needed to change the subject.
“What are your daughters names? What are they like?”
“My oldest daughter is Natalie. She’s quiet, but extremely smart. Then there’s Gigi, perfectionist. She can do anything. Last but not least there’s Lana…she’s the youngest.”
When he didn’t say anything about his baby daughter, all the alarms, bells and whistles went off in my head. “Danny, what is it that you’re not telling me?”
“About?”
“About Lana.”
“She is funny, loud and…”
I waited but he faded off as we came to a red light. “And? What are you not telling me about this little girl? Does she have like an extra eye? Do we have to call a priest? Will she terrorize everyone at prom? What is it?”
He rubbed his tired eyes. “She’s the reason I can’t keep a sitter. She almost killed the last one I had.”
“Well, good for all of us that I’m already dead.”
“This is not a time for jokes. I’m being serious. She screamed and cried until the poor woman threw herself in front of a car.”
I slowly turned my whole body to face him. “She jumped in front of a car? Or did the kid push her?”
“She parked across the street, and when I came home she ran away without a backward glance and…”
“She was hit.” I nodded solemnly.
In the dark, the stress of money problems and a child with murder-tendencies were evident. I glanced down the length of him. “Daniel?” he was tall, medium build…but…I’ve done worse.
“Hmmm?” The light finally turned green and he screeched off.
“Do you have a hard on now?”
“What?!”
I didn’t have to ask him, I just did it to get a reaction. I could smell his arousal. It was a mix of spice, coffee, sweat and…blood. His blood pumped fast and I could smell it. My nostrils flared but I fought back the urge to have my way with his body, drink him dry and throw him in the garbage. In the past two weeks, I’ve seen this done.
In desperation…I’ve done it.
Daniel had a family and a life…I couldn’t do that. But I’ll satisfy both our needs for the time being. “I saw that your pants were a little tight. I thought your dick got hard—”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. You can’t talk like that in front of the girls.”
I glanced to the backseat. “Oh, I’m sorry, are they here?”
He pulled over in front of a tiny white house with a broken fence. Two giant trees crowded the lawn, giving the feel of a haunted house even in the middle of July. “I’m sorry,” he apologized as he adjusted his pants. “I’m trying to be a gentleman.” he ran a hand through his already messy hair. “Every since you drank from me…”
I waved off his explanation. “I know, you dream about me, blah, blah, blah.” I leaned closer to him, his natural scent mixed with fabric softener turning me on more than it should have. “I can help you out…turn fantasy into reality.”
“What do you mean?” Daniel’s eyebrows came down in thought. He eyed me warily as I reached out to play with his loose tie.
“I mean, that I can be the best sex of your life.”
“Now?!” his shock and surprise thrilled me. I wonder how long it’s been since he gotten laid…
“Now,” I whispered. I slowly pulled him closer to me; our lips were only inches apart. “I’m discovering, that now that I’m dead, my urges are a bit more…insatiable.”
My tongue whipped out and licked his lips. “Didn’t you want me, Daniel?”
I saw the big gulp that made his adams apple bob up and down. “Uh huh,” he muttered.
A sharp rap on the car window brought us out of our sexual hypnosis. I turned and made eye contact with a frantic elderly woman. “I’m sorry, Dan,” her voice shook as she spoke.
Daniel rolled the windows down with the button on his door. “It’s okay, Elena. Thank you for watching the girls.”
“Nat and Gigi went to bed right away. Lana was…a bit more hesitant.” The poor womans eyes darted between Daniel and I. “She…”
Daniel sighed. “What did she do?”
“She…she stared.”
Daniel and I shared a puzzled glance. “She stared?”
“She stood in the doorway as I sat to watch T.V. and she just stared…with a…creepy smile on her face. And then she said that the spirits wanted me to know that they’ll see me soon.”
I bit my lips to keep the hysterical giggle inside. “I know Lana is dramatic…” Daniel began. “Are you okay?”
She nodded and smiled as if she suddenly realized that a little girl staring at her while she watched T.V. was absurd. “I’m sorry, Daniel. I don’t think I’m available to watch the girls tomorrow night.”
“It’s okay,” he mumbled.
I extended my hand through the car window. “Hi, I’m Vivienne, the new nanny.” I smiled, making sure not to extract the fangs. This woman wouldn’t make it through the night just thinking about the demon child and the vampire staying next door.
“Oh, what a pretty name.” The older woman smiled politely and eyed me curiously. “For a minute there I thought I interrupted a date.” Although the streetlights were dim, you could see the blush on her face.
“No, no date. Just showing Daniel the benefits of a live-in nanny,” I winked at her.
“Vivienne,” Daniel hissed.
“I’m just joking, he had a little something on his tie, I was wiping it off,” I added.
Elena stood straight. “How lovely. Well, good night you two, the girls are in bed.” she slowly sauntered over to the house next door.
I turned my head to Daniel, knowing full well that he was about to blow a gasket. “Listen, before you get all crazy, I was just joking. But, if you want to finish what we were about to do…”
He shook his head so fast I thought it was going to pop right off his neck. “No. I don’t know what came over me but we are never going to do…whatever you think we were gonna do.”
I began to lean toward him again, in hopes that he would fall under my trance again. “Oh, come on, Danny boy…don’t you want me to—”
“Shhhh.” He nudged me back.
“What’s your damage?”
“We’re being watched.”
A chill instantly ran down my spine, which was saying a lot. I began to think of who could have found me, how much of a deep trouble I was in. “By who?” I asked quickly.
He nodded his chin towards the house. In the left side, second floor window where three little shadows.
