Vampy Pt. 2
Hello Reader!
This is my vampire story. I’m writing it on the fly and I actually really like this story…I’m thinking of turning it into a full novel, I’m not really sure yet. Maybe some variation of this story. This story is one of my favorite flash fiction that I’ve written so far because the characters voices are loud in my head and it’s not that hard to write. When I don’t have to really think about it, it’s a good sign that maybe I should keep this going. I don’t know how many parts there will be to this story but It’s going to be a long one. so please enjoy this next installment.
Love Always,

VAMPY PT. 2
I stretched opening my eyes. I let out a loud scream as a blur of a figure came into focus.
“Shhhhh. It’s me Daniel, the guy that let you suck on his neck last night.”
I held a hand to my lifeless heart. “Oh, thank God…or whoever is in charge of the afterlife.” I sat up. “Did you drag me out the closet?” I looked behind me at the mess of a closet. Damn, I was a chaotic sleeper.
“Yeah.”
“Was I heavy?”
I don’t know if I should’ve been offended by his slight grimace…but I was. “Dragging a dead body out of the closet wasn’t easy.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Is that a nice way of you telling me that I weigh a ton?”
Daniel crossed his arms and leaned against his industrial looking desk. “I want to know a couple of things.”
I sat criss cross applesauce, eyeing him from feet to head. He really was a good looking guy, even though he had dark circles under his eyes and a five o’clock shadow covering his chiseled chin. When my eyes finally settled on his face, it was his turn to raise an eyebrow. “Relax, you’re not my type,” I muttered.
“I was last night.”
“That was for survival.”
“Riiiight…so, can I ask a couple of questions?”
“Why?”
“Because you know my name and where I work and I know absolutely nothing about you.” I opened my mouth to speak but he held up a finger to silence me. “Knowing you’re a vampire doesn’t count.”
I rolled my eyes. I don’t know what happened from this morning to now but he was really demanding tonight. “What do you want to know?”
I saw his shoulders relax a bit as he let out a stream of calming breath before asking his question. He rubbed his hands together to steady his nerves. “How about…what’s your name?”
“Vivienne.”
Daniel began to pace. “That sounds…normal.”
“I was once a person, so, yeah, it should sound normal.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-nine.”
His head shot up. “You were twenty-nine when you became a vampire?”
“I was twenty-nine up until two weeks ago.” I scoffed at the sympathy on his face. “Don’t feel sorry for me, Daniel.”
He nodded. “Right. How did you…turn?”
I was beginning to feel agitated. This was a story that I wasn’t comfortable telling because it was so personal and heartbreaking that I wanted to do what every normal person did…bury the memory and never speak about it again. “What’s with all the questions? I thought you hated everything about me.”
“Hate is such a strong word. I let you suck on my neck.”
“For money!”
“Why didn’t I turn to a vampire?”
I rolled my eyes. “Because I didn’t kill you. I stopped when I was satisfied not when you ran out of blood.”
“Why didn’t you kill me and keep the money?”
I felt my anger shoot up. I don’t know why this question hurt me. “Because I have a conscience. I don’t want to kill anyone. You don’t know what it’s like to die and lose your entire life. I can’t do anything and I can’t grow old with anyone. I’m stuck in this body for the rest of eternity.”
Daniel kept is voice low as he fired away his next question. “Do you have vampire friends?”
“Friends?”
“Yes, friends…who might not have the same moral compass as you.”
“No.” I mean, I knew other vampires but I didn’t really hang out with them. They were a little power crazy…it wasn’t my scene.
“How about the person who turned you into—”
“Danny, I’d stop asking questions if I were you. You’re really irking me now and I’m hungry and you’re looking like a big ole steak.”
“I promise my next question won’t irritate you.”
I sighed. “What?”
“So…since you drank my blood…I’ve had this very vivid dream…of you…and me…”
“Get to the point!”
“I’ve been very…aroused.”
“Seriously?!” I snapped. “Get over yourself!”
He stopped pacing. “I can’t help it. What I’m feeling is beyond normal…and about you! which is crazy because I should be repulsed by you!”
I finally got to my feet. “Excuse me?”
“You’re great looking…but the whole vampire thing…” I entertained this loser far too long. I began to walk towards the door. “Vivienne, wait!” when I didn’t steady my stride he added, “Please.”
I stopped. “You have five seconds—”
“I want to ask you for a favor.”
I bowled over with laughter. “ Are you serious? Why would I do you a favor?” HIs eyes were shifty, the beads of sweat began to form on his temples and upper lip. Oh, he was nervous now. He bit the inside of his cheek so hard that I could smell the blood. I closed my eyes and savored the scent, doing my best to restrain my instincts which told me to rip this guy apart and drink every drop of his blood.
“If you don’t then I’ll expose you.”
I stalked slowly towards him, fangs exposed. “Danny boy, you know I don’t deal with threats very well.”
I kinda liked Daniel…in a maybe he can be my pet kind of way…well, that was up until this point. “I-I…” His stammer made me happy. He dropped his head in his hands. “I need help,” he groaned into his hand. “I can’t believe I’m asking a vampire for help,” he whispered to himself.
This was a first. Was he crying? “What do you need help with?”
“It’s my girls, I have three.”
“Well, aren’t you a busy man.”
“No! not like that, they’re my daughters. I don’t have a sitter or anything and I’m working these overtime hours to make it up to my boss so I can keep this job and I—”
“You want me to babysit?”
“Yeah, I honestly have no one. My ex-wife’s friends stopped talking to me as soon as she fled, and the PTA moms are not very nice…and I’m kind of drowning here. My boss seems like he’s going to fire me and I really need this because—”
“Yes.”
Daniels eyes widened with shock. “What?”
I smiled. “I said yes.”
His eyebrows shot up on his forehead. “Really?” then in an instant his suspicion grew. “Why did you agree so easily? you’re not going to drink their blood are you?”
For some reason that question hurt me. “No, Daniel. I wouldn’t do that to kids. I didn’t even do that to you without asking first.”
He nodded. “How can I pay you back?”
I smirked at him, showing my fangs. “First, you can let me drink from you again…”
I saw the sweat fall from his temple. “Second?”
I shrugged. “I don’t like to think too far ahead.”
