After the Office Party...

The Aftermath

I needed to get it out of my system. I’ve been building up the nerve. All week we’ve been avoiding each other. The company holiday party always seemed to cause drama; I knew this going into it and I don’t know why I let it happen. It was Friday, we let the whole week go by without bringing it up and now I needed to talk about it. I was ready to talk about it. I took a deep breath and straightened my skirt and blouse. I gently knocked on his office door. “Hey, Jack? Can we talk?” I asked.

Jack Hernandez was the most unrelenting person I’ve ever worked for. If you were one to listen to office gossip, which I’m not saying I don’t, I’m the longest reigning personal assistant Señor buttmunch has ever had. I’ve only been working at the firm for a year to get my foot in the industry, but it feels like I’ve been working here for a decade. I think I aged in dog years too.

“About?” He asked without looking up, crossing out something on his legal pad so aggressively, I bet anything he ripped it.

“About the office party,” I whispered.

“Close the door,” he commanded still keeping his eyes down.

I did as I was told.

When I shut the door, I cleared my throat and scrounged up all the guts I had. “Listen, I just wanted to talk about Friday because—“

“Miss Lotte, there is nothing to discuss.”

I shrugged. “Okay, I just thought things seemed weird and awkward between us.”

“Awkward how? Am I singling you out and making your life hell?” He asked with a slight tilt of his head.

The sun had already gone down, his sleeves were rolled up, tie undone, if he wasn’t my boss, I would’ve pushed for a repeat of last week.

“That’s the problem. Usually you’re an ass— not very nice to me and...this whole week you haven’t yelled once.”

I saw the corner of his mouth twitch as if he wanted to laugh but he kept his composure. “So, let me get this straight Miss Lotte...you are on edge because I haven’t yelled at you?”

I linked my hands together and held them in front of me to keep from fidgeting. “I’m on edge because we went to third base and you don’t yell at me like you used to. It’s just weird and I wanted to—“

He put up his hand. “I think I’ve heard enough.”  He stood up to his full six feet five inches and sauntered over. “Miss Lotte?”

His face was mere inches from mine. “Hmmm?” Was all I could manage. Had my eyes lashes betrayed me by dropping? God, help me.

He smirked at my weakness and it was if a I was electrified, I stood up straight and pushed lightly on his chest. “Back up, Jack. This is how we got in trouble last week and this isn’t Fifty Shades were the little timid girl falls for some sex crazed millionaire.”

Instead of a smirk, he smiled bright. “First off, I am not sex crazed and you are not timid.”

“That’s what you got out of that?”

“And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about last week every day since.”

I felt the warmth rush to my cheeks. “I’m...you have?”

“The way that—” his voice went low as his arms encircled me, his hands finding their place on the small of my back.

“You don’t have to get into details.”

He sighed. “I yelled at you before to keep you at a distance...now...I don’t know what to do.” He shrugged.

“Oh...I always wondered why you never yelled at Martin...even after he nearly burned down the office by putting metal in the microwave.”

He shrugged. “Yeah, well, Martin isn’t really my type...he’s a blonde.”

I laughed. “So, what do we do now?”

“I could think of a couple things.”

I was definitely blushing. “Like?”

“Can I kiss you?” He asked.

I think I stopped breathing. I nodded. He lowered his lips to mine. As his tongue parted my lips, the hunger that I felt everyday for the past year exploded in my belly. The warmth made it between my legs causing me to let out a small moan.

“You Okay?” His voice was coarse but it still sent chills down my spine.

“You could touch other places you know,” I said. No longer was I nervous to bring this up. I needed him. Now. I jumped on his desk; a woman on a mission. I saw the muscle in his jaw tighten. HIs hand slowly went up my leg and under my skirt. His eyes searched my face for approval. I nodded, and bit down on my lip. My heart beat in record time with every move of his hand. I felt his finger through my panties. “Is this what you wanted?”

i didn’t answer. I couldn’t answer. My mind was in a fog. With my eyes closed, I felt when he pushed my panties to the side. HIs fingers rubbing where i wanted; his groan when he felt how wet I was made me open my legs more. “This is how I made you come. Remember, Miss Lotte? Your hand was on my c—”

We stood as still as statues.

There was a hard knock at the door, making us jump apart. I rushed to put underwear and sanity back together. What the hell was I doing?! “I’ll call them as soon as possible,” I said loud enough for whoever was at the door to hear. I could see from the corner of my eye, Jack adjusting himself and taking his place behind his desk.

“Please do so, Miss Lotte, I can’t have you dropping the ball like last time.”

I opened the door, one of the partners stepped aside. “Is that all for today?” I asked.

“No. I need you right after my meeting to go over tomorrow’s scheduling and notes.”

“Let the poor girl go home. She has a life outside of this, don’t turn her into us,” his colleague tried to persuade.

Jack looked at me. “Are you willing to stay? You have a choice.”

My heart raced. “I’ll stay.”
